 Good evening everyone,

What are you feeding on today? Our diets, at least in America, are made a big deal of. We have so many things to choose from. May we never forget how blessed we are. My simple fish dinner tonight was just right, only enough to satisfy and allow me to rest well through the night. I am grateful because I know many don't even have a piece of bread.

That is for the physical body. But, what about our spiritual diet? Are we starving ourselves? Would you even think about eating only on Sundays? Or a snack on Wednesday night? Colossians 3:16 says we are to let the Word of God richly dwell in us! This Word is our Wonder Bread! It will make us strong and provide all that we need.

Our minds crave things to fill the void in our lives too. Look at all the social media available to keep us coming back for more. Yet, how good is it for us? The media relentlessly provide the bad news morning, noon and night. Just like a meal. Too much of this steady diet will make us nutritionally depleted. The main course is fear; the gravy that covers us with the goo from the worlds knowlege, untruth, assumptions. And, have you noticed how it sticks with us?

Psalm 46:2 says, "Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea." WE don't have to fear anything they say. Only listen to the voice of the Lord. We are to be devoted to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving...Colossians 4:2.

It really makes sense to me, you know, about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the garden at the beginning. God told Adam and Eve to forget eating that lovely fruit. Don't go there! But Eve decided it is good for the eyes and food for our bodies. At least I think it went something like that. Look what that led to! Let's not put all the blame on Eve though.

We have all these "food" choices and I was thinking about this today as we were coming home from town. We had to get a couple of things from the store. I actually walked past the things that I used to load into my cart, for only the good for me foods. It does get easier with time. Also works as we spend time in the Living Word of God.

Same for the other things we bring to the table of our life. I am discovering how pleasant and filling it has been as I am giving myself to the Scriptures, letting them saturate my mind and heart. Psalm 73:23-24 says, "Yet I am always with you: you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory." Give thanks for the counsel and direction we get from the Lord. The Book is complete!

When I think of something fearful, my body shakes and the trembling takes time before the Lord in prayer, to settle. There I find the peace I need. If I want to have a steady walk with the Lord then I have to quit feeding my mind with fearful news. No, we don't know the timing of all that God has spoken will come. It will be fearful for anyone who hasn't become a child of God. If it didn't happen today it could tomorrow.

Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Jesus is calling us to be still so our restless hearts will be calm. Mark 4:39 says, "Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace be still!" and the wind ceased and there was a great calm." There is nothing worse than being sick at sea. This journey sometimes takes a boat ride on rough seas. He is with you!

There are so many voices in the world trying to gain our full attention. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Amen?

Father, teach us to lean into Your whispers and trust Your voice above all the others. Forgive us for following blindly the suggestions of the enemy. Cut us free from the net that would entangle us and keep us from walking with our hand in Yours. Thank You for another chance. Change our heart and steady our mind in the name of Jesus, amen.

Bless you brothers and sisters. It is in Christ we reside in the peace that passes all understanding. Press into His Word each morning. It will be your best meal of the day. You will be satisfied and strengthened. Your joy will increase and your hope abound. God be with you until we meet again with Heartstrings, Patricia.

Abundance is...hearing God's whispers
