Good afternoon,

I have been wanting to understand about our soul. After looking it up in the dictionary I learned the soul is "the part of one's being that is thought of as the center of feeling, thinking, will, etc. separate from the body." In my mind then, it is the life, the person part of me. We are fearfully and wonderfully made aren't we?

Psalm 54:4 says, "Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul."  We are made with the purpose to love God with all our soul. From the place that we put our trust in the Lord, we can know that; Deuteronomy 4:29..."But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul."  He will be our sustainer of life, our soul, as we seek Him with all that is within us. The Word promises that we will find Him.

We are always looking for something or someone to satisfy our souls aren't we; to make us feel good. We can listen to others talk about the void they have in their life and how frustrated they are; when they really don't understand that what they are searching for is a relationship with their Creator. The soul longs for truth, justice and mercy. It longs for companionship and friendship to help us through any situation. That God would not only be with them but, for them. To know that you have God Almighty on your side is incredible! Hey, you can do anything and go through anything knowing that.

We have God's laws that restore our souls...Psalm 19:7. We have the Great Shepherd Who restores our soul...Psalm 23:3. Our soul thirsts for God like the deer after water brooks...Psalm 42:1-2.  Our yearning causes us to seek God to satisfy our souls...Psalm 63:1-2.  Our souls bless the Lord for the great things He has done...Psalm 103:1-5. Again, He satisfies the thirsty soul and feeds it with good...Psalm 107:9.

These are just a few that I found. I love that Jesus is referred to as The Living Water. We can go without food for a time but not without water. My relationship with Jesus is the same. Since really making it my purpose to meet in the Word with Him each day; now, I can't go without it! My soul will thirst with longing to be in His presence.

What is it that your soul longs for today? A better job? The Lord will sustain you in the time you are waiting. More joy? The Lord will renew and refresh the joy of your salvation. Healing? Again, Jesus is your healer and He will work through this time of waiting. Your testimony will become stronger as you lean on Him in your weakness. That is believing with a whole heart.

Hebrews is a book that I am just getting to know. It is becoming deeply personal to me. Hebrews 6:19-20 is a wonderful promise..."This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one that enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest for ever according to the order of Melchizedek."

Our hope is in God. His promise and His oath are true and He will never deceive us. He is our refuge and indwelling strength and strong encouragement. Hold on to the anchor of the soul because it cannot slip or breakdown under the weight of who you are. Stand on it, hope will hold you up! Praise the Lord!

Your soul is preserved in faith, hope and love. Will you take a chance and stand on that anchor that will never slip. You will not be plunged into deep waters, but be saved. So whatever you are feeling about your life today, search for God and He will show you the way. Amen?

Abundance is...sustained in the Lord.
